I.- SPANISH PORTS: PRIVATE INVESTMENTS
The Spanish Ministry of Public Works has captured more than 1500 million euros in private investments in ports. These investments, which have been made in exchange for the enlargement or extension of concessions to companies that manage port services, are the result of the modifications introduced by the Royal Legislative Decree No.18 / 2014.
II.- BALEARIA: OPERATIONS IN CUBA
The American Treasury Department has given the Spanish shipping company Balearia the license required to operate services from and to Cuba. Last June this company obtained another license from the Bureau of Industry and Security. Both licenses are necessary to operate between the USA and Cuba. But to start the service the authorization of the Cuban Government is still pending.
III.- SPANISH PORTS: INCREASE OF TRAFFIC
The traffic in Spanish ports increased by 3,4%, totaling 297,4 million tons until May. Solid bulks were those that experienced the largest increase ( + 8,8%), followed by liquid bulks (+ 4,4%), ro-ro traffic (+4,1%) and general cargo (+0,7%).
