1.- INCENTIVES FOR USE OF LNG
The Spanish National Budget for 2016 include, among other incentives, those aimed at implementing State guarantees to the investment of shipping companies. These guarantees cover the transformation of Spanish vessels not more than 15 years old to use natural gas as fuel, as well as the installation of exhaustion gas purifiers in their engines.
2.- TRAFFIC OF GOODS IN SPANISH PORTS: HISTORICAL MAXIMUM
Traffic of goods in Spanish ports reached between January and August, according to the Spanish Ports Agency, 321,5 million tons, 3,9% more than in the same period in 2014. Liquid bulk and general cargo recorded maxima which exceeded 4,6% in the case of liquid bulk and 0,6% in the case of general cargo.
3.- SPAIN AND THE LINER SHIPPING CONNECTIVITY INDEX
The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development has recently published its annual report on maritime transport. Its annexes include the Liner Shipping Connectivity Index (LSCI) inficating the accesibility of each country to shipping lines. Spain ranks 10th, 5th among European countries.
