1.- SPANISH MERCHANT FLEET: GT INCREASE  

According to the last figures provided by the Spanish Shipowners Association (ANAVE), the merchant fleet controlled by Spanish shipowners is expected to increase by 27% in the next two years, up to 5,2 million GT, thanks to investments in 18 ships for a value of 1.730 million euros.

2.- CLASSIFICATION SOCIETIES LICENSED BY SPANISH ADMINISTRATION

The Spanish Administration has passed a resolution last June,12,2017 licensing six classification societies to survey and classify ships, ratify inspections and issue certificates on its behalf (Spanish Official Gazette Nº 160, July, 6, 2017). These classification societies are the following ones:

 

  • Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore SAS (BV).
  • China Classification Society (CCS).
  •  DNV GL AS.
  •  Korean Register of Shipping (KR).
  •  Lloyds Register (LR).
  •    RINA Services S.p.A. (RINA).

3.- MOVEMENT OF GOODS IN SPANISH PORTS

Movement of goods in Spanish ports has increased up to 3% in the four-month period starting January and ending April. In the course of these months, Spanish ports moved 167,3 million tons, 30% more than in the same period of the previous year. Except for conventional general cargo (-4,6%) and ro-ro traffic (-5,5%), came up all the other cargoes.

4.- GOVERNING COUNCIL OF SPANISH PORTS: FUNCTIONS

 

The Spanish Administration has passed a resolution approving the composition of the Governing Council of the Spanish Ports, its functions and its rules of functioning (Spanish Official Gazette Nº 167, July, 14, 2017). According to this resolution the Governing Council of the Spanish Ports are in charge of a numbre of functions such as, inter alia:

 

    -To authorize the investments and the financial operations of the State Port System.

 

   - To ratify the strategic framework of the State Port System , the infrastructure plan and its

       amendments.

 

   - To approve any modification of the delimitation oif the spaces and port uses.

 

   - To agree on the limitation of the number of port service providers.

 

  -To approve the annual contribution of the State Port System to the Inter-Port Compensation Fund.
